The Men of Frater Sodalis have left a continuing proud
and honorable legacy since the beginning in 1943 with
the leadership of Brother Ishiguro, the first president of
Frater Sodalis.

Frater Sodalis began their first year in Abilene Christian College with Dr. Gilmer L. Belcher as their first sponsor. Brother Ishiguro and 14 other men began the club, which is the Beta chapter of the original Frater Sodalis at George Pepperdine College of Los Angeles, California. The original 15 charter members and our first sponsor are shown below. Not pictured are Neal McLesky and Arnold Shaver.

Frater Sodalis' officers in its first year were as follows:

Dave Hearn.............2nd Semester President

Morris Herring.......................Vice President

Neal McLesky..............Secretary-Treasurer

Shorty Lawson..................................Reporter

Michio Nagai......................Sergeant-at-Arms

Among the most respected aspects of membership in Frater Sodalis is its long and rich legacy of tradition. A point of aggressive promotion among members, Frats can boast the fact that we are simply the MOST tradition rich club among all those continuously active on the campus of ACU. One Tradition, for example, is the hard work and dedication Frats put into their intramurals each year. This club has been known for its ability to go out on the field and work together as a team to win as many games as possible and have as much fun together as possible. Shown here is the 1973 Championship 8-on-8 Flag Football team:
